Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Interview was quick and easy. She brought us to her office, swore us in, and then asked for our ID's and then asked us a series of questions like:

How did you meet? (to my wife)
Have you been to Japan? (to me)
Have when was the first time you came to the US? (to my wife)
Do you have evidence of your ongoing relationship? - we showed her some more pictures than were included in our package, some health insurance papers, a car title and record of purchase with both our names on it. That was about it.

She said she would approve us and that we should continue to gather evidence of our ongoing relationship to present in our next interview for the lifting of conditions. It was very quick and we didn't need much of the stuff they asked us to bring (mostly because it had already been submitted).

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We got there at 8- our interview was for 830, and our interpreter was supposed to be there at 8 too. Well he finally showed up- at 850- and we talked for about 30 seconds and then the lady came in and called our name! we were on our way to her office and she was talking with the interpreter and then she asked me how my spanish is, and i said perfect, so she told our interpreter to leave! (he offered to stay and wait for us, on the clock i presume.. but I told him that he should just go) She said the more important thing is our relationship and she'd prefer to talk to just the two of us. We sat down and she asked us for picture ID, then she asked how we met, how long we dated, etc. I had made a timeline with pictures of our important milestones and events, and she liked that, and she asked for any paperwork we had with both of our names on it, so i showed her our bank statement, our tax return, a letter from our midwife (baby due in march), and thats pretty much all she looked at.... read complete review

I couldn't believe how easy our interview was. The lady that interviewed us was very friendly and professional. She made the interview feel more like a conversation than an interrogation. I was worried about our financial paperwork because we're self employed, but she didn't ask us any questions about it. I've talked with other people here who had good experiences also at the Portland office.

We were so nervous, but the people there were very kind! We waited in a room with others and when our name was called a very nice lady took us into an office together and just went over the basic stuff, looked at our bills and assets together and that was it! She took my husbands EAD card and stamped his passport. It was a snap!
